Scalea

THE MEDIEVAL VILLAGE

SCALEA

BEACHES AND HISTORY TO LIVE

In Scalea, one of the most popular tourist destinations in southern Italy, you can appreciate the wonders of its historic center, the squares and places of worship and its splendid beaches.
An ancient enclosure of walls protected the medieval village  and from the small promontories of the area you can enjoy one of the most exciting and particular views of the entire region.
The symbol of the city is undoubtedly the Torre Talao , and the rock on which it is located was once an islet characterized by many caves that have been inhabited by man since prehistoric times.

The many beaches in Scalea are characterized by a clear and crystalline sea, where fans can indulge in multiple sports activities, including snorkeling, swimming, diving and other water sports . The beach  it extends for about 8 km from Ajnella towards Cirella and many beaches are free. In fact the oldest part  offers a long strip of white sand that allows tourists to take advantage of non-equipped beaches that can be reached at any time of the day for free. One of the best known, in a very extensive stretch, is located near the river Lao.

If you don't want to spend a vacation  only of sea, warm beaches and crystal clear waters, you can devote yourself more to visiting some points of historical, artistic and monumental interest such as the Norman Palace (also known as the 13th century Episcopio), the Palazzo dei Principi (dating back to the 13th century) , and the frescoed ruins of the Basilian churches of the IX century. Among the religious buildings the Church of Santa Maria d'Episcopio dating back to the seventeenth century, the church of San Nicola in Plateis, the church of San Cataldo and the ruins of the Grancia and the Franciscan Convent that date back to the thirteenth century.
